The Indian Ocean Strategy Research Center, in collaboration with the Wellawatte Kinross Swimming Association, cleaned the Wellawatte beach on 21-09-2025, in line with the International Coastal Cleanup Day. Approximately 3 tons of solid waste, such as plastic and polythene which had been discarded by humans, were removed from the beach.
ඉන්දියානු සාගර උපාය මාර් ගික පරයේෂණ ආයතනය ලෝක වෙරළ පිරිසිදු කිරිමේ සතිය අරමුනු කරගෙන වැල්ලවත්ත කිංරෝස් පිහිනුම් සංගමය සමග එක්ව වැල්ලවත්ත වෙරළ තිරය 2025-09-21 දින පිරිසිදු කරන ලදි. මෙහිදි ප්ලාස්ටික්, පොලිතින් වැනි මිනිසා විසින් මුහුදට එක් කරන ලද ඝණ අපද්රව්ය ටොන් 03ක පමන ප්රමානයක් වෙරළ තිරය තුලින් ඉවත් කරන ලදි.
